June 4, 2025![]() 1055b dull gum, Fine, NH line pairs $ 3.00 each ![]() 1055b dull gum, Fine+, NH line pairs $ 5.00 each ![]() 1055b dull gum, almost F-VF overall, NH line pairs $ 7.50 each ![]() 1055b dull gum, F-VF overall, NH line pairs $ 12.50 each bottom middle LP sold This issue has the poorest centered line pairs produced in modern times. The two sides of the plate were poorly aligned. It then happens that the centering of one stamp may be Fine (perfs touching) while its neighbor may be easily F-VF. I have an abundance of line pairs I would describe as Fine, while LPs I would describe as F-VF (overall) are in very short supply. You may say that Scott values a "VF" line pair at $6.00, and I would say okay, but VF line pairs are virtually non-existent because of the alignment issue. By the way, a similar issue 1059Ab with dull gum, printed around the same time by the same entity, is generally beautifully centered. Something was wrong or went wrong as the BEP printed the 2c Jefferson stamps some time around 1980, I think it was. |
